Assign Sensors to Cabinets

After pairing, sensors are unassigned — they send readings but no alerts are triggered until a sensor is assigned to a cabinet. Assignment is done in the cloud dashboard.

Step 1 — Create your cabinets

  1. Log in to app.chillcheck.online
  2. Go to Settings → Devices
  3. Under Cabinets, click + Add cabinet
  4. Enter a name (e.g. "Display Fridge 1"), choose the type (fridge or freezer), and save

Repeat for each cabinet at the site.

Cabinet names matter for compliance

Environmental health inspectors will see your cabinet names in exported reports. Use clear, descriptive names that match the physical labels in your premises (e.g. "Deli Counter Fridge", "Chest Freezer — Back of House").

Step 2 — Assign sensors

After pairing sensors, the dashboard home page shows a banner:

N sensors not yet assigned — Assign in Settings

Click the banner (or go directly to Settings → Devices). Unassigned sensors are highlighted with an amber border.

For each unassigned sensor:

  1. Click Assign →
  2. Select the cabinet from the dropdown
  3. Click Assign

The sensor is now linked to that cabinet. Temperature readings will start appearing on the dashboard and alerts will be active.

Reassigning a sensor

If you need to move a sensor to a different cabinet:

  1. Go to Settings → Devices
  2. Find the sensor in the assigned list
  3. Click Reassign
  4. Select the new cabinet and confirm

How assignment works

  • Unassigned sensors still send readings to the cloud — they are stored but no alerts are triggered
  • Assigning a sensor activates alerting for that cabinet immediately
  • Each sensor can only be assigned to one cabinet at a time
